Surfaces of Emergence is a series by Serdar Akdeniz that examines the moment when what has been placed within a surface begins to return. The works do not construct images, but follow the conditions under which buried forms reappear.
Each piece begins with a drawing-based structure that is not preserved, but embedded and subjected to time. The surface does not accumulate or release; it becomes the site where return occurs. What emerges is not added onto the surface, but comes back altered through contact.
In this series, the surface does not stabilize what appears — it interferes. Forms remain partial, unstable, and unresolved, moving between emergence and dissolution. What is visible is not representation, but the trace of something returning from within.
